Like the proverbial acorn from which grows the mighty oak tree, the church started out as a house fellowship. Seventeen people were present at its inaugural fellowship which took place in the sitting room of the Sola Kolades on October 25, 1992.
Within a few weeks, that place was too small for them and they had to look for a bigger hall which they found in the nearby Bamboo Corner Hotel. Space problem soon forced them out of that place to Methodist Grammar School, Bodija, Ibadan, Nigeria, where the Hour of Emphasis was introduced.
The church moved to Agodi GRA, where the first Sunday service was held on June 6, 1993 with 106 people in attendance. This marked the beginning of VineBranch as a church.
